Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a major provider of hospital and community healthcare services to the people of Swindon, Wiltshire and surrounding counties.
The Trust is also one of the biggest employers in the South West, with a team of 4,800 highly skilled, kind and compassionate staff.
We are an ambitious and progressive Foundation Trust, with 1.2 million patient contacts every year and a £340 million annual turnover.
Safety, quality and the patient experience are central to every decision we make and everything we do. From November 2019, we will begin providing GP services, alongside hospital and community services in Swindon, creating a unique opportunity to provide care which feels well-coordinated and more joined-up for patients and their families.
This is something only a few places in the country are doing and Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is now at the forefront of this new approach to integrated care.
It is an incredibly exciting time to join the Trust as we also begin work on the Way Forward Programme, which represents a major investment in the services on the Great Western Hospital site and encompasses the expansion of our Emergency Department, building a new centre of excellence for rehabilitation and the potential to enhance our private healthcare facilities, all aimed to help us to meet the needs of the local population, now and in the future.
In this fundamental role, you will lead us to deliver the Trust’s five year strategy, which sets a clear vision to join-up services, while improving outcomes and helping people to stay well for longer.
We need an inspiring leader who embodies our leadership principles. You will be an exceptional candidate, with the experience, confidence and ambition needed to lead large and complex organisations.
We are looking for an individual with a significant track record of delivering innovative and sustainable solutions, with a goal to improve both quality and performance.
Equally important, you will need to gain the trust, support and commitment of staff, who are essential to delivering our strategy.
Working well with partner organisations is also key to our success and so the ability to build rewarding relationships with a range of stakeholders is imperative.
There is no doubt that this is a challenging time for the NHS and there has never been a time when the role of Great Western Hospitals Foundation Trust has been more important. Ageing and growing populations, a greater prevalence of chronic diseases, financial sustainability and workforce constraints, mean we must be relentless in the pursuit of the transformation of our services at all levels.
